Testimonials

Mr. Brunner has been working with my pony and has exceeded my expectations. His knowledge, experience and resume is quite impressive. The country setting is wonderful and he is able to provide driving instructions over different terrain, something I would not attempt as a green driver. His horse hotel is great and the chalet is charming. Progress reports are emailed daily, if you are not renting the chalet. A practitioner of natural horsemanship, my pony is treated as I would treat him. From the moment I stepped into the cart, Mr. Brunner started teaching me to help me become a safe and confident driver. I hope to have him start my mini also. Hello, Haflinger Friends -

I spent last week in Montrose, Pa, at John and Else Brunner's farm. It was a wonderful get-away horse vacation! I trucked out my 6 yr old gelding, Aaran, along with two human friends. It was a long haul from NH, but all went well. Spent the week at the Brunner's lovely A-frame cabin, and had much quality driving time and several relaxing trail rides. We hitched Aaran to two different vehicles of John's, including a 4 wheel marathon wagon with hydraulic brakes and loop shafts. We had our first cones-course experience, and also great fun on John's X-country driving and riding trails, which include a nice water crossing. With John's help, I got a feel for different line-holding techniques, worked on whip cues, and fine-tuned our harness fit.

My 68 yr old friend, Sally, jumped into driving with great enthusiasm, and ended up taking several private lessons with John as well, driving 2 of his Haflingers. The Brunner Farm is in a very quiet beautiful area, up in the hills in eastern PA. Miles and miles of dirt roads to use and John has built a maze of wonderful trails on his own property. It is truly a "piece of heaven", with a very comfy cabin, a nice run-in set up for visiting horses, and lots of gardens and fish ponds to admire. John and Else are generous and and fun hosts, sharing the bounty of their garden and their outgoing friendliness. We couldn't ask for nicer folks to share horse time, lots of laughs and a relaxing glass of wine!

If anyone is looking for a wonderful place to just relax or get some serious driving time, I highly recommend this spot. Here is their website: (www.brunnershorsedrivingschool.com). Someone from this chat group first brought the Brunner farm to my attention (Alana, are you still on here? Thank-you!!). I will be adding pictures to Aaran's photo page as soon as time allows.
